Our tour guide will meet you in your hotel
lobby at 08:30 in the morning. Tour to the
Drepung Monastery and explore caves, temples,
and pagodas. After lunch, visit the Sera Monastery.
Transfer back to your hotel.
Monastery: Known for its high standards
in academic study, it was called the Nalanda
of Tibet. Drepung Monastery was built in 1416,
it currently covers an area of 250,000 square
meters. In its heyday, it held as many as
7,700 monks. One of the monastery's highlights
is the thangka unveiling at the Shoton Festival
Monastery: Built in 1419, it is one of
the six main monasteries of the Gelugpa of
the Tibetan Buddhism. The monastery is famous
for the daily spiritual debates of the monks.
Covering an area of 114,946 square meters,
Sera Monastery has many Buddha statues and
beautiful murals in the halls.
